" The Essentials " are Singer-Songwriters Art Perry and Nancy Katz. Art (in
center, kneeling) on vocals, guitar, some bass, and Nancy (mad-hatter, left) on vocals, hand percussion, and some bass. Art
and Nancy are the founding members of the group.
Kevin Joella (center, standing, subtle
smile) also a singer-songwriter, awesome lead
guitarist, key-man, and studio wizard.
Louie Vasile (tall guy, right) bass and guitar, official girl magnet, and, much sought-after rock n' roll hair model.

For Art and I,
writing and performing songs has always been both an avenue of expression and a source of joy. With the
help of our multi-talented and extremely handsome friends, Ed Albrecht, Louie Vasile,
and Kevin Joella, we are living our dream. We have become creators of beautiful noise.
We are an eclectic group of children of the 60's, 70's, and 80's, and Rock N' Rollers
at heart, but pride ourselves on writing and performing songs that have cross-generational and cross-genre appeal. Well,
okay, we don't do any Metal, Emo, or Rap, but have tried just about everything else.
We also do covers of some of our favorite artists, Beatles, Rolling Stones, U2,
Radiohead, etc., but do our own unique renditions of their music, rather
than trying to sound just like them. We are stylistic and creative in our own
right, and try to emulate rather than imitate. It's just one of our things. Nancy
